Viva Espana

I'm beside a swimming pool in Majorca feeling pretty chilled out for once. Maybe it's my relaxed mood which has shaped the tone of this blog. Basically, this, unusually for me, is an appeal for cool heads. The fallout from Friday's debacle at Alloa is still raging on various United platforms and it is not a pretty sight. Friday was horrendous, we started really badly (or they started quickly, or both) and it was no surprise when they took the lead, carving us open with a through ball followed by a cut back to an inrushing striker. We looked pedestrian whereas they played a similar high-tempo style to Ayr. At this point though, I'll correct that, they played a similar high-tempo style to us; the us who scored 6 against Morton last week, the us who scored 6 against Dundee, the us who should've scored 6 by half time against Dunfermline, the us who scored 5 against Inverness. This tempered my thinking somewhat. We turned in similar performances to Friday night under b...

The only way is up... Maybe.

Is a 62 a sexual position?  If not, it surely is now around Dundee. After the unprecedented positive response to the last blog I had absolutely no idea whatsoever to write about in the new one, had no timescale and basically it all felt a bit Second Coming-esque.  Why not write about our great start to the season you miserable get?  Aye ok, but it's a lot harder to write about stuff when there's not really anything new to say or point out that hasn't already been said. However, the spark was well and truly lit last night.  Someone texted me last night about half 11 saying they were fully erect (about the match).  I suspect they weren't the only one. Husbands and wives must've wondered what had hit them last night when their other halves got back from the game. Anyway, I'm going to start with last night and work my way back. I never get excited about derbies.  I just get an overwhelming feeling of dread mostly and this extends right into the match usuall...

Betfred Crap

A brief intoduction here.  I am a United fan of over 40 years from first being taken to a United game against Celtic which I can't remember but apparently my dad and grandad fell out with a policeman at because I had my feet the wrong side of the wall at the front of the Shed, to seeing us stuff Dundee 4-0 with the likes of Bannon, Narey, Heggy, Gough and my hero Sturrock all running riot back in early 1985, to attending the UEFA Cup final as an 8 year old which I remember more vividly than the instructions my wife gives me most days, to relegation twice (I was at Pittodrie and the game against Celtic in 1995 but I never went to Dens in 2016, after the Hamilton game which preceeded it I just couldn't take any more), to numerous Scottish and League Cup finals, great, bad and heartbreaking (re. M Kerr).  This blog is mostly about DUFC but occasionally may dip into Tayport Juniors, Scotland and even Forfar Boys.  It will not be a weekly thing, that is best left to Perennial ...
